Toyota has finally launched the new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser. It can be considered the lite model of the 300 Series Land Cruiser available elsewhere. The 2024 land cruiser will be manufactured at Toyota Motor Corporation’s Tahara plant, while in Japan it will be made in Hino plants. They are expected to arrive in the US in the spring of 2024.
Let’s look at the specs of the new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser in detail.
Off-Road Capabilities
The Land Cruiser is known to be an off-road icon, and the very new 2024 edition extends its excellence. The new 2024 Landcruiser comes with an all-new front stabilizer bar that disconnects while elevating the flex at the push of a button. The land cruiser has an approach angle of 31 degrees, and the most departure it can do is 22 degrees when the break-over angle approaches 25 degrees. The ground clearance can be around 8.7 inches. To ensure off-road protection, rock rails can be integrated along with the full-coverage steel skid plates. The recovery hooks work well for off-road recovery. The fog lamps help enhance visibility. The new Land Cruiser is upgraded with color selectable rigid fog lamps.
Multi-Terrain Select works both for the 4WD high and low, which is what you get on the Land Cruiser grade and delivers settings that can be changed to get control of the wheel spin on different terrains like dirt or sand. The CRAWL function is standard too, which plays the role of low-speed off-road cruise control and enables the driver to get all their attention on the steering wheel while the system maintains one of the five selectable speeds.
Downhill Assist Control is another typical off-road feature that assists the driver in navigating descents by restricting the vehicle's speed. Drivers may see potential path obstructions using the Multi-Terrain Monitor, which can display clearly on the available 12.3-inch touchscreen, which comes standard on the Land Cruiser grade.
With the Toyota Genuine Accessories and Associated Accessory Products (AAP), Land Cruiser can be considered a black canvas for customization. The AAP ecosystem will keep on upgrading with time and presently it contains around 100 accessories like a rack attachment, and off-road recovery gear along with the brackets to store the gear. It also comes with outdoor sporting equipment carriers. These can be included in the customer’s monthly payments making accessorizing as convenient as it can be.
Power-train
The Land Cruiser's new i-FORCE MAX hybrid power-train is standard on all grades and combines a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with a 48-hp electric motor integrated into an eight-speed gearbox fed by a 1.87-kWh NiMH battery pack to produce 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. Estimated fuel efficiency will be released closer to the Land Cruiser's release date.
All the Land Cruisers have a full-time four-wheel drive system along with an electronically controlled two-speed transfer case and a center locking differential. The system comes with automatic limited slip and vehicle stability control. An electronic locking rear differential is present in all the Land Cruisers and can cut power 50/50 to the rear wheels for improved traction control on rough terrain.
The i-FORCE MAX turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder hybrid powertrain will be specific to the 2024 Land Cruiser, producing a remarkable 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. This blend of power and efficiency ensures an exciting driving experience both on and off the road.
Infotainment and Cutting-edge Technology
The 2024 Land Cruiser, just like the 1958 model, offers seating for up to 5 individuals with black fabric seats. These models are equipped with an 8.0-inch touchscreen that showcases Toyota’s latest Audio Multimedia system, which is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also offers a variety of enhanced features for convenience and connectivity, such as Over-the-Air (OTA) updates. The Land Cruiser grade provides the option of heated and ventilated SofTex-trimmed seats in either black or Java. It comes with a 12.3-inch multimedia monitor and the choice of a premium 14-speaker JBL sound system. Additionally, the Land Cruiser can be equipped with 4G connectivity, turning the vehicle into an AT&T Hotspot capable of connecting up to five devices. The Landcruiser 2024 also comes with a premium package with leather-trimmed seats on the Land Cruiser Grade. The exclusively available First Edition grade is equipped with leather-trimmed seats and special "First Edition" logos embossed on the door panels. The front row features an upgraded Qi wireless charging pad with increased power, and both the front and rear passengers have access to dual USB-C charging ports. Additionally, there are improved functional features designed for driving on rough trails, including a center touchscreen palm rest and side knee pads for added comfort.
Every grade comes with a standard Smart Key System featuring a push-button start. When an active Remote Connect trial or subscription is in place, a possible Digital Key links with compatible smartphones. This facilitates entry to the vehicle, access to the tailgate, and initiation of the vehicle's starting (depending on the availability of a 4G network). The Digital Key also provides the option to remotely share access with others, offering increased control over vehicle entry instead of handing out a physical key.
Pricing
Differing from the 200 Series, the retail pricing is initialized somewhere in the mid $50,000 range and will be announced near the sale date. Considering how simple the trim level hierarchy is, we can expect a fully loaded example to be in the $60,000 range. This model is not a direct descendant of the previous series, so a lower price makes it even better.
Beyond Zero Vision
As a part of Toyota's diverse strategy aimed at achieving a carbon-neutral future, the Land Cruiser now joins the array of hybrid vehicles in Toyota's collection that proudly bear the Beyond Zero emblem. Presently, Toyota presents a selection of 16 electrified automobiles for consumers to consider. This variety includes twelve hybrid variants, two plug-in hybrid iterations, the bZ4X battery electric vehicle, and the Mirai, a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle emitting zero emissions. Toyota surpasses other automakers by delivering a wide range of options to customers who aim to minimize their carbon footprint.
