Although the LX 600 is just slightly larger, broader, and lower than the LX 570 it replaces, the mechanical modifications are considerable. You receive an all-new electronic power assist steering system, re-tuned suspension with the option of 22-inch wheels, enhanced off-road driving modes, and crawl control, in addition to a sturdier frame with increased torsional stiffness..
The all-new LX 600 symbolizes the next phase in premier luxury, completely reinvented for 2022. It not only looks different on the exterior, but it also has a slew of new tech features, a new engine, and a gearbox, and is built on a brand-new platform.
Historically, the LX has been the Land Cruiser's more comfortable, road-oriented brother, and this appears to be the case once more. Because of its actual off-road competence and unwavering dependability while maintaining a high level of luxury.
The all-new LX 600 continues this heritage while also introducing a number of Lexus firsts. The Land Cruiser's cancellation in the United States saddened enthusiasts of the famous SUV, but the Lexus LX - whose price tag is roughly identical to that of its Toyota counterpart, will proudly fill the abyss.
What’s New?
Although the LX 600 is just slightly larger, broader, and lower than the LX 570 it replaces, the mechanical modifications are considerable. You receive an all-new electronic power assist steering system, re-tuned suspension with the option of 22-inch wheels, enhanced off-road driving modes, and crawl control, in addition to a sturdier frame with increased torsional stiffness.
Of course, the most significant modification is the switch from a normally aspirated 5.7-liter V8 to a specially tuned version of Lexus' 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. The LX keeps the body-on-frame design, although it is built on the new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, which Lexus refers to as GAF. Upfront, there's a pair of familiar-looking control arms and a live axle, while the rear dampers tilt forward rather than inward.
The body can now hunch lower over the frame, allowing Lexus to replace the traditional detachable rear jump seats with an electronically deployed third row that folds into the floor.
Parking and highway driving are both improved by the revised steering system's reduced weight immediately off-center. The steering effort, the damping profile of the adaptive dampers, and the shift schedule of the 10-speed gearbox all vary as the drive mode dial is twisted. Thankfully, the steering is more about strengthening the original feel around the middle of the wheel rather than just increasing the assistance.
Performance
Under the hood is the new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 gasoline engine powers the 2022 Lexus LX 600, replacing the 5.7-liter V-8 normally aspirated engine of the previous generation. Only one taste and one tune of the V-6 have been available from Lexus. Even though it is a smaller engine, this engine is able to produce 409 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, a 26 hp gain. Even at 3,600 rpm, Lexus' maximum torque is still maintained, something the automaker takes great pride in. There is a 10-speed automatic transmission with a very low first gear for smooth acceleration and enhanced low-speed off-road driving.
On and Off the Road
A new all-wheel-drive system is also available for the LX which includes rear, middle, and front differential locks. For the first automobile ever, a Lexus is equipped with a front locking differential. While this may seem like a disadvantage, the additional two gears result in higher fuel economy with 17 miles per gallon in the city, 22 miles per gallon on the highway, and a combined 19 miles per gallon. It has a variety of drive settings, including Auto, Dirt, Sand, Mud, Deep Snow, and Rock, that let you tailor your driving experience to the conditions you face. For off-road driving, there is also a Crawl Control mode that may be activated.
Adaptive Variable Suspension
With the new adaptive variable suspension (AVS) system, you may fine-tune the ride to your liking. In addition, this system responds more quickly to road conditions since it has a stronger immediate damping force. As a result of the better on-road performance and greater ride comfort that comes with this smoother and more accurate control, The cabin is kept in perfect equilibrium at all times, which even reduces the vehicle's swaying when it travels through difficult terrain. In terms of performance, the LX 600 can race from rest to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds even though it weighs over 6,000 pounds in its most massive form. This beast can reach a top speed of 130 mph (210 kmph).
Exquisite Features
Every inch of the cabin, from the dashboard to the door panels, is lavishly fitted with high-end materials and features. With a 12.3-inch larger screen and a seven-inch lower screen, the automobile offers a variety of views, gauges, and control choices to the driver and passengers. This new technology is accompanied by a multi-terrain display, which gives the driver 360-degree surround captured by four cameras and is integrated into the vehicle's dashboard. When travelling at speeds more than 30mph (48kph), an all-speed dynamic radar cruise control may be activated, which can adjust the distance between cars all the way down to a complete stop and then restart. With the most immersive audio ever offered in an LX and the next-generation off-road camera systems, this is technology as it should be.
Trim Levels
For the 2022 Lexus LX, there are two trim levels, the F Sport and the Ultra Luxury. Highlights in the F Sport include a mesh grille, black chrome trim, 22-inch forged alloy wheels, sports seats, and a leather steering wheel with a textured surface. The Ultra Luxury model, on the other hand, features only four seats instead of the standard seven. Second-row bench seats have been replaced by two separate chairs designed to keep the driver in the best possible position. Unwanted movement is prevented even in off-road conditions by using soft urethane with better vibration absorption.
Lexus Safety System
The vehicle is equipped with a number of advanced safety technologies, including automated braking, lane departure warning, lane tracking assistance, and intelligent high lights. There is more than 19 inches of screen available, including a bottom display that is intended to inform rather than distract users. In addition to low-light pedestrian detection and daytime biker detection, this suite of class-leading standard active safety features is the most complete safety system ever provided in the Lexus LX 600.
