Dead Blower Motor? $20 DIY Fix!!

Updated: Oct 19, 2020

Fix your Blower Motor with just a $20 resistor!

This was done on my 2004 Honda Pilot Rear Blower motor that had stopped working. These steps are similar for all 2003 - 2008 Honda Pilot as well as 2006 Acura MDX. For other vehicles these steps may vary depending on your vehicle, but hopefully you can take something from this!!

Let's get straight to it!!

Here are the

Parts & Tools Needed

Step-by-step Process for 2004 Honda Pilot

1. First remove bottom panel from driver side.

- First move the driver seat as back as it goes to get space to remove the panel.

-Then use the plastic pry tool and gently pry free the clips from the bottom panel until it come out free.

The arrow is pointing at where the resistor is located.

2. Depress on black clip, twist, and pull out old resistor

- Depress the black clip where there is the red arrow

-While still depressing, turn the resistor clockwise

Twist clockwise and pull out

3. Unplug electrical connector

- Push down where the red arrow is pointing and pull the connector out

No need for the flathead screw driver, I just had it in my hand :)

4. Reconnect New Resistor

-Self explanatory! Reconnect the clip until you hear a "click."

Again no need for screwdriver

5. Reinsert resistor into its place! Reverse of removal!

- The part of the resistor (circled in green) should start where I put the green arrow

- And then while pushing in, turn the resistor counter-clockwise until you hear a small click or it looks like the picture below.

6. That's it! Try it Out! Test out to see if it works!

- You did it for less than $20 and a little elbow grease!!

...Now just reinstall the bottom panel and enjoy that magnificent breeze!
